About Presura

How Presura started.

Presura started as an ambition to build a professional European weather platform with live radar, expandable layers, controlled hosting, and room for hyperlocal stations.

Origin

From idea to working weather platform

The project began with the need for a fast and modern weather website without a heavy framework, while still keeping a scalable internal structure.

Why Presura

The website should feel large and professional while remaining maintainable for long-term development.

  • Fast map experience
  • Clear layers for radar, wind, temperature, and alerts
  • Prepared for a future in-house weather engine

Product direction

Presura is growing step by step from a live map into a full weather network with open data, fallback feeds, and local user stations.

  • Official and open data sources
  • Admin-driven source control
  • Later community onboarding for stations
Technology

The current technical foundation

The internal structure is modular so layers, data sources, and admin capabilities can expand later without replacing the whole site.

Application core

Presura runs on a lightweight PHP architecture with custom routing, controllers, views, and configurable registries.

  • Pure PHP core
  • Custom view and routing structure
  • File-backed settings

Frontend and map

The live homepage uses modular JavaScript files for layers, radar logic, station rendering, and map interaction.

  • Leaflet map layer
  • Separate modules per layer
  • Shared mobile and desktop codebase

Local stations

Ecowitt is the first active step toward hyperlocal user data directly on the map.

  • API and MAC-based registration
  • Map pins and popups
  • Later per-station admin validation
